Lesson Plans on Writing
The Odyssey:Intro to Greek Myth
This lesson began a larger unit introducing the students to the idea of the greek pantheon before delving into excerpts from The Odyssey which would be read the following week. I introduced the idea of epic poetry and the features of an epic poem before having the students engage in guided research into the Greek Pantheon.
Greek Gods and Modern Jobs
While introduced towards the end of the previous lesson, the students were beginning to learn the many different Gods and Goddesses in Greek poetry. This lesson serves to further that understanding by providing scaffolding to help students understand the material and make real-world connections to these foreign characters and concepts.

Types of Myths: Creation Myths
Before moving forward into The Odyssey, I thought it best to provide a sample of what students could anticipate when reading the more complex text. I did this by introducing the idea of a "creation myth" and going over the detail of the Theogony, a Greek Creation myth.
